Two Cultures - One Goal! A Navajo Mission Trip

Sometime its easy to overlook various cultural differences evident within the borders of our own country. The Native American Indians possess a rich and intriguing history that is quite diverse from ours. Yet, taking the time to listen and learn from our Indian neighbors, will most certainly enlarge one's appreciation for this often forgotten people.

My recent visit to the Navajo Nation was spent visiting people who love the Lord and love their communities, especially the people who live there. The experience confirmed what I have learned in recent months - their aspirations and desire are no different than mine. What became evident in our conversations was a mutual passion for people to find God through the person and work of Jesus Christ. And not only to find God, but to experience the unconditional and relentless love of Jesus, resulting in acts of love in return.

Mission Discovery is entering into our second year of ministry amongst the Navajo. Early on, I was convinced it would take years of relational investment to effectively partner in ministry together - an investment I was willing to sacrifice time and energy to Navajo Mission Tripaccomplish. My short-sightedness proved me wrong. What a surprised to observe the Lord powerfully and rapidly remove cultural barriers, resulting in a common goal to touch the lives of needy people on the reservation!

I would love nothing more than to share the experience with you. This year Mission Discovery has 7 weeks of projects currently on the calendar. If these dates don't work, we would love to see if we can arrange a time that isn't currently scheduled. Either way, you'll certainly see two diverse cultures come together working side by side in a common goal to share the love of Jesus with the Navajo.
