Golf Challenge is new this year! Each year we've hosted the Challenge here in Tennessee and with great success. But now you can play and raise money for Mission Discovery in your home town. Here's how it works.
Pick a course and date to play a round of golf. Let your friends know you will be playing that day to raise money for Mission Disocvery. Ask them to sponsor you per hole played, the gift is tax deductible. Get $500 in sponsors and we will pay for your round of golf up to $45. You can collect checks from your sponsors and mail them into the office, or simply send of the names, addresses and phone number and we will collect for you! That's it!
The event is a vital part of make our work a possibility.
Mission Discovery was founded in 1991 for a single purpose: To serve God by mobilizing groups and individuals to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the world’s poor. Click here to see what Mission Discovery is doing in the world right now!
Since our start over 30,000 have participated in 7 to 10 day trips to accomplish serving in hands-on projects and telling the story of Jesus. A participant may be a doctor and his medical team who brings attention to a needy Haitian tent community or a middle school student who helps build a wheelchair ramp in the inner city of Nashville. In all there are over 50 weeks of these focused efforts in 9 nations. With a staff of nine people, 2,200 participants will serve on Mission Discovery trips this year.
Each trip is focused around a vital work project in a needy area.
One example is Bethpage, Tennessee where residents along Bledsoe Creek devastated Rick and Laura Henson’s home during Middle Tennessee’s May flood of 2010. Within 30 minutes 4 feet of water rose in Rick and Laura’s house.
Immediately Mission Discovery high school teams gutted his home, salvaged what they could and have helped rebuild their lives and home. After the flood Rick gave his live to Christ, knowing his life was
spared for a purpose.
Each participant on a Mission Discovery trip pays a fee to participant in a week-long trip. Those trip fees along with gifts from friends, foundations, churches and the 2011 Mission Discovery Golf Challenge underwrite the supplies needed to make possible a project like Rick and Laura’s.
